Friday 23rd March was IDERD 25, International Day of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

To celebrate this important annual milestone, Corporate Protection Head Office staff joined in an all-staff meeting featuring an informal chat where staff were able to relate stories but also the ways in which Corporate Protection will support our team in calling out racial discrimination.

The day was also commemorated with a company-wide broadcast screensaver and locked screen message to ensure this important issue was at the forefront of everyone’s mind.

During the Conversation on Racial Discrimination, we heard two personal experiences from Max and Adi who presented thought-provoking insights.

Max is a member of the Palawa people, one of the oldest Indigenous groups in Australia. He enlisted in the army at 17 and continues to serve as an active reservist. His professional journey has taken him across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Papua New Guinea. Max joined CPA in 2019. He has shared experiences of the apathy he encountered when addressing racial discrimination earlier in his career, and the subsequent treatment he received once his heritage became known.

Originally from India, Adi completed his university education there and began his career at Google India before relocating to Melbourne for a master’s in IT. Choosing to stay in Australia, Adi has now accumulated six years of IT experience, including two years with CPA. He has spoken about the pervasive nature of racial discrimination, noting that it is not just heard but deeply felt, and the significant impact this can have. Despite these challenges, Adi believes these experiences have strengthened him.

As always, Corporate Protection is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace where everyone feels valued and supported.
