CPA there for our clients during tropical cyclone
by Chelsea Ardley
As demonstrated during the COVID pandemic, Corporate Protection’s culture of never missing a shift can respond to major external stresses. At one point during the height of the pandemic, CP staff were transported by private charter flights where whole teams were thrown in. Not one hour’s production was lost by our clients.
We are pleased to report that our record was maintained during the recent tropical cyclone event. As anyone who loves in SE Queensland will know, it was a stressful time and normal utilities and transport were lost for extended periods.
Even for sites outside the affected area, SEQ is the source of many of our workers who travel to site to fulfil their shift commitments. Our staff are renowned for making every effort to turn up on time, or extend their site stay to ensure coverage,
It was truly pleasing to received a response from one of our largest security clients post-event. Here was his communication:
“I trust you are both well and got through TC Alfred (and probably more importantly, Ex-TC Alfred) relatively unscathed.
I wanted to take a few minutes to “pen” a few words to acknowledge the superior response of CPA to (client) in response to TC Alfred. In particular, the work of the security officers and CRO’s rostered throughout the event and also your management team, particularly Steve Gosling.
I have already received numerous reports of positive feedback and thanks for the support, response and assistance provided by the security teams and I noted myself how engaged and helpful they were to many staff, but in particular the Maintenance Staff to support the preparation, response and recovery phases to this event.
I am sure you have the rosters of who was working through the event and I am not inclined to name individuals that come to mind with specific examples because I know that every one of the team were doing their best to keep up to date on the ever-changing requirements, restrictions and procedures as we adapted to the dynamics and uncertainty of the weather and the impacts on our operations.
The staff made themselves available and turned up for their shifts, often early to get better handovers and to make sure that they got there, when they could have just as easily, or wanted to, be home looking after their families and property.
Ian informs me that Steve was exceptional, proactive and had several contingency plans in place. I’m also told that he was very supportive of your staff. not only the ones that were working but checking in on the ones at home and ensuring that they were okay and also ensuring effective business continuity. I don’t think we had any dropped shifts through the entire event and given the potential for this, it is a testament to his planning, management and ability to engage the staff to show up to do their jobs.
Please pass on my sincere thanks and appreciation for the work of your team through this event.”
Manager, Security and Emergency Management
As visitors to this website know well, we get many positive comments from clients, and hundreds are included as testimonials.
Each and every one is valued by our team but this one in particular was also reviewed by our Board of Directors.
Our security management team received this response from one of our longest-serving Directors:
“Outstanding, guys.
I particularly appreciated that he was aware that staff turned up (early) for shifts despite probably wanting to be home looking after their place.
That’s wonderful commitment by everybody and a good client that recognises that commitment.
Well done everyone – terrific work”
