Safety milestone – 10 years LTI free

One of our most challenging yet fascinating sites is in the remote Western Province of Papua New Guinea where we have been providing doctors to support a mining and dredging operation for almost 10 years.

The site recently announced 10 years LTI free.

Of course, that means CPA has been LTI-free in its own right. But more importantly, the amazing work by our doctors as part of the site HSE team was acknowledged. Every month our team provides training across the site and stages safety drills for the team – proving yet again that prevention is critical in ensuring a safe workplace.

It was wonderful to see our team recognised.

Our Medical Director, Dr Scott Wilkinson has been working with the site team for the entire time and knows the challenges that have been confronted with the remote location, up to 6 week rotations, let alone the challenges of COVID related quarantine and risks.

 

Dr Wilkinson:

I can’t speak highly enough about our two long-time site Doctors Daryl Robert and Solomon Viyufa. Their remote work location and diverse work force provides daily challenges which they take in their stride. From regular malaria diagnosis and management to managing a COVID outbreak, from medivac support to toolbox talks, these guys cover it all with patience and grace. We are all proud to have them represent CPA for us.

 

We have previously highlighted one of our doctors at the site, just to make sure these amazing doctors are never forgotten. Might be time to spotlight Dr Darryl!!
