Staff Spotlight – Nikita Hinton

We recently caught up with Nikita Hinton, one of our committed Paramedics, to learn more about her unique journey and experiences.

Who before embarking on her career in emergency medical services, Nikita built an impressively diverse resume including time at the British Embassy in Turkey and five dynamic years working in the Gold Coast’s theme parks.

What is your professional background?

After graduating university with my paramedics degree I joined the long line of graduates awaiting a job, so in the meantime I worked for an event medical company. I then got offered NSW ambulance and St John Ambulance NZ at the same time and decided on an adventure to NZ by myself. I worked in the southern region for 3 years before making the leap back to Australia and working for CPAHM. 

Where are you working now?

I currently work at Bravus Carmichael Coal Mine in Belyando.

What other Corporate Protection sites have you worked?

Manning the clinic onsite, being prepared for everything from emergencies to non urgent cases. Also clinic duties such as restocking, ordering consumables and medications, and keeping the clinic clean for the next paramedic.

What are your primary responsibilities?

So far Bravus has been my only site, but who knows what the future holds.

What do you find most challenging or fulfilling in your role?

Most challenging is definitely how remote we truly are, and working alone has taken some getting used to. Most fulfilling is when you get to see the patient again around camp and they thank you for how you helped them and treated them.

And what do you do in your spare time?

I like to travel, go to sporting events, and have quality time with my Fiancé and family. In August this year my fiancé and I are travelling to England to watch the Rugby Women’s World Cup, so we are both extremely excited for that. I also love tattoos and Harry Potter… so I decided to cover one of my legs in Harry Potter tattoos of course.

What would your manager say?

My manager is Tyler, with my FCC supervisors being Paul and Nicole. I think they would find me annoying for constantly contacting them, but they never tell me that haha. I think I’ve built a good working relationship with them all and they know if they ask me to do something, it’ll get completed.
