At Corporate Protection, the health and wellbeing of our team remains our top priority.

With influenza cases on the rise across Queensland, we encourage everyone to take proactive steps to stay healthy. Prevention is a shared responsibility, and whether you’re on site or working from home, let’s work together to protect ourselves and those around us.

What is Influenza?

Influenza, or the flu, is a contagious viral infection that affects the respiratory system. It spreads easily through droplets when people cough, sneeze, or talk.

Current Situation in Queensland

Queensland Health has reported a strong influenza season, with many regions experiencing increased flu-related hospitalisations and absenteeism. Workplaces like ours need to remain vigilant to limit transmission.

Common Symptoms

  • Sudden onset of fever

  • Dry cough

  • Sore throat

  • Fatigue or body aches

  • Headaches

  • Chills or sweats

  • Occasionally, vomiting or diarrhoea

Prevention Measures

  1. Practise good hygiene

    • Wash hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

    • Use hand sanitiser when soap is unavailable

    • Cough or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands

  2. Stay home when sick
If you feel unwell, stay home to recover and prevent spreading the virus to others.

  3. Regular cleaning
Disinfect shared surfaces like keyboards, door handles, and equipment regularly.

  4. Use PPE where required
Masks may be advised in high-risk environments or during outbreaks.

  5. Consider vaccination
    It reduces severity and spread.
