Supporting Our Clients Through Power Station Shutdowns

Corporate Protection Fire & Rescue continues to play an important role in supporting our clients during planned shutdowns and major maintenance activities across Queensland’s power generation sector.
Since January 2026, our Emergency Response Teams have provided more than 7,767 hours of shutdown coverage across three major power generation facilities, including power stations in rural and north Queensland, as well as a hydroelectric power station.
Shutdown periods involve a significant increase in maintenance activities, contractors and higher-risk work occurring across site. Our teams work alongside our clients and other contractors to ensure these activities can be undertaken safely while maintaining a dedicated emergency response capability.
Our shutdown services have included emergency response, confined space standby, atmospheric and gas testing, permit assistance, fire and rescue coverage, and medical response.
Providing this level of support requires considerable planning, flexibility and commitment from our personnel. Our teams have worked both day and night shifts, often adapting to changing shutdown schedules and operational requirements to ensure our clients continue to receive reliable emergency response coverage.
The more than 7,700 hours delivered so far in 2026 reflects the dedication of our Emergency Services Officers and support personnel and demonstrates Corporate Protection Fire & Rescue’s ongoing commitment to providing professional, capable and flexible emergency response services to Australia’s critical infrastructure and power generation industries.
