Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO)
Corporate Protection Australia Group’s consultancy division, iSafe SMS (iSafe) is Australia’s market leading provider of Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO) staffing, training and PFSO refreshers.
In Australia, maritime security is regulated by the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 (MTOFSA). The primary purpose of this Act is to “safeguard against unlawful interference with maritime transport or offshore facilities”.
MTOFSA provides a regulatory framework for ships, ports, port facility and port service providers operating within an Australian security regulated port or offshore facility. Further, all personnel involved in maritime and port security activities are required, by law, to be trained and qualified. This includes training as a Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO).
iSafe have trained over half of Australia’s PFSO’s over the last 12 years and are the market leader in providing PFSO staffing, training and refreshers courses.
We offer a practical two-day MTOFSA compliant course designed to meet all aspects of legislation and the specific needs of staff working in maritime security. Upon completion, participants are compliant with MTOFSA and have up to date knowledge and skills to perform the role of PFSO.
The training course includes:
- Maritime Transports and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003
- Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003
- Maritime Security Plans
- Roles and responsibilities of a PFSO
- Security Controls
- Maintaining Compliance
- Drills & Exercise
- Workshop on Risk Assessment
